Lead rein showing?

Hi all,
My daughter is getting a pony on Saturday - he's not very showy but very quiet and thats what I wanted! Does anybody have experiance with lead rein classes? We are thinking of entering her in a few over the year - we aren't going to compete alot, just do local shows. Hes not a reg welsh or anything, he's a proper mutt so there isn't much point in taking it too seriously. Just looking for tips if anybody has any?
